And so we are safe and sound in Nicaragua. Although our flight was delayed out of Dulles almost two hours, we made a second connection in El Salvador and were in Managua by 2 in the afternoon. Seventeen members of our group waited for the first small flight across Nicaragua while the rest checked in at the Best Western across the street to fly out on the first flight tomorrow morning. After two hours of waiting our 17 potential passengers made their way to our hotel after being told that there would be no more flights today due to rain. That completes today's travel adventures.
The group spirits are high despite minor travel setbacks and everyone is booked into rooms here at the hotel. We must be back at the airport at 5AM to make our next flight attempt and are hoping to get the group rolling. I just ordered 12 large pizzas for dinner and booked the hotels group room for an evening of food, music and time for the group to get to know each other.
One exciting event happened today when two of our well meaning students, anxious to get some construction going and packed their hammers in their carry on bags. TSA agents were swift to make sure that this did not happen. Timmy Mulgrew and Laurel Hattix were simply glad not to be taken away by TSA.
Please pray for good weather, safe travel and positive attitudes for tomorrow as we will make another run at reaching out destination. Also, as a group, we came up about $1,200 dollars short of our budget as a team, so please pray for provision. Thanks for the prayers and support. More tomorrow!
Seriously??? More hammer drama involving Laurel...typical!
